After the huge success of his Intensive Acting Skills session last year, Mark McGann returns with an exceptional new Masterclass for The Mayflower Summer School 2010.  Intensive Screen Acting is a must for professionals and amateurs alike, who want to explore and experience this side of the business.

Participants will be sent scenes from a variety of scripts, chosen by Mark (mainly duologues or small groups), with specific characters allotted.  The more familiar you are with your scene, the more you will get from the experience.

The day will start with a short meet and greet with Mark, followed by a brief explanation of the day’s objectives, the pairs/groups will then spend some time running their scenes together.    Firstly, all scenes will be run back to back on stage, and Mark will determine the running order and then the filming starts.  Once a scene is completed, the actors can become involved as the camera crew (clapperboard, lighting assistants, director for a take, cameramen for a take etc), to help you appreciate the other essential roles on a film set.

This technical insight is almost as valuable as the experience of being directed on camera, as actors rarely get to experience this before they find themselves in a role on screen. Mark says “Michael Caine has made a career around learning everybody else’s job on set, which has not only endeared him to many, but improved his understanding and technique immeasurably.”

Following the Masterclass, the footage will be edited and the scenes burned to DVD, which you will receive at a later date (approx 4 weeks).

Location
The Masterclass will take place on stage and in break out areas of the Theatre.
