‘Enthusiastic GCSE and A Level Drama students were missing school so badly during the Spring Bank holiday that they came back into school in order to do yet more work!! Famous actor – Mr Mark McGann – drove all the way from Somerset to Bingley Grammar school in order to complete an acting workshop based upon the GCSE text ‘Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell. Mr McGann started off the day by talking to students about his personal experiences in the acting industry; sharing anecdotes, coupled with humorous re-enactments. Then it was ‘all-go’ as students set to work on warm-up tasks and activities based upon characters and themes from the text. The day concluded with students actually performing a cut-down version of the play, complete with music and a highly emotionally charged denouement! Ms Barnes would like to thank Mr McGann for his time, expertise and delightful rapport with the students – “we all shared a wonderfully special and creative day that will remain etched on all our memories.”
