LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION AS ACTOR TAKES LESSON

Actor Mark McGann thrilled pupils at a Bath school this week when he turned up to teach them.

McGann, famous for his film roles in John And Yoko: A Love Story, and Shackleton, worked with Year 9 pupils at King Edward’s on developing their acting skills for film.

The workshop was run by Mark and his colleague Ed Thomas for their company ‘Screen Direct’.

As part of the Year 9 drama syllabus students are required to produce short films which they plan, act in and shoot independently in small groups.

Head of drama Sue Curtis said: “Working with a professional actor helps to develop their understanding of theatre and film and enriches their experience of drama.”

This is the second time Mark McGann, whose brothers Stephen, Joe and Paul are also actors, has worked with KES students.

Before Christmas he ran a workshop for sixth-formers and GCSE students.

Mark also has many TV credits to his name, including appearances in Inspector Morse Casualty and Where The Heart Is.
